Budgeting is a major source of stress in wedding planning and a substantial number of couples end up exceeding their budget. And as planning progresses, many feel like that they're throwing money into a black hole not knowing when this would end, often regretting decisions made if they knew how much that decision would end up costing.
After planning over 1000 weddings, we are Sydney's leading experts in planning and helping couples keep their budgets in check. The best time to book in this service is before you have booked in a venue or any services. When we assess your budget, we will help you (1) prioritise your preference to see what compromises can be made that would bring you the best results; (2) suggest creative solutions to potentially save thousands of dollars; (3) give warnings ahead of time regarding risk factors that could substantially increase costs in the future.
Not budgeting your wedding at the start causes financial stress, and can be a strain on your relationship, and in many cases also a strain on the relationships on family and friends. If family members are contributing to the costs, conflicts arise; and all the stories you hear online about couples asking for guests to pay or brides bridal party to fork out extra money are all signs of financial desperation.
Accurate budgeting can only come from experience. After planning over 1000 weddings, we have seen that not every effort to save money ends up with the best result. In many cases, something that seems like that it would save money can seem cheap but still end up costing more (See Case Study 1); and in many cases making some creative tweaks such as time adjustments could save couples thousands, or even tens of thousands of dollars (See Case Study 2). Our budgeting service is about helping you assess your budget and helping see how you can get the most out of it, and if your budget is stretched where you can make the smallest amount of compromises but get maximum results.
CASE STUDY 1: Due to budget constraints a couple was about to organise a wedding ceremony with a self catered banquet. After helping them go through their budget and account for the costs of the kind of external catering they are expecting, including hiring of furniture required, cleaning, cutlery and crockery hire etc. it would end up costing substantially more than they expected. Ultimately we were able to organise a wedding for them at a five star hotel with the same budget.
CASE STUDY 2: On one occasion, a couple loved a certain venue but thought that it was out of budget because they would only consider a dinner reception as a dance party was really important for them. However on this occasion they were not aware that there was a $30,000 price difference between a lunch and a dinner. Ultimately, we were able to help them organise an affordable lunch event at their preferred venue, but we also organised an afer-party in a separate location for a dance party that ended up being not only cheaper, but gave them more time to dance.

Budgeting is a major stress factor in wedding planning, and for many, it may be important to have this sorted out before planning starts. The Free Budgeting Service is an optional pre-service to the Venues service and the Wedding Planning Trial to assess your preferences, requirements, and whether the budget you have is suitable; and if not we will (1) suggest the least amount of compromise you need to make to save you the most amount of money; (2) suggest creative solutions that can potentially save thousands of dollars; (3) give warnings ahead of time of risk factors that could potentially substantially increase your costs in the future.
1. ASSESSING YOUR BUDGET: At the first instance, you can come with a budget, or a budget with several price points, and we can estimate for you what kind of venues that you may be able to have for that price, and what services you might be able to get.
2. ASSESSING YOUR PREFERENCES: In many cases, your budget may be suitable for exactly what you need, which is perfect, and we can move to the next step. However, if your budget is stretched or lower, we will assess your preferences and help you prioritise what is important for you. Wedding planning is all about making compromises. You want to get the most out of what you are prepared to spend. So we will assess where you can compromise to by understanding what your priorities.
3. ASESSING FUTURE RISKS: After having a good idea about what your budget is, we will also assess future risks and in what areas your costs can blow up and to avoid, and things that don't seem like it has any impact but may cause thousands of dollars down the track.
