WHAT WE REALLY THINK ABOUT THIS VENUE
Sydney Mint is a historical building on Macquarie Street that has now become a historical landmark and function centre. The venue is run by the NSW History Museum and the catering is supplied by an on-site catering company. The venue is attractive because of the sandstone exterior, and a beautiful sandstone courtyard which is perfect for a wedding ceremony. The main function room, the Gold Smelting Room is a modern space with an elevated stage and floor to ceiling windows that open up to the courtyard with dance parties permitted in the outdoor area. The venue has excellent AV facilities and has a logistics team that is very experienced and professional in higher-end event production and works well with professional suppliers. The venue is central and convenient, and has excellent accessibility facilities. This venue is considered a premium government venue and couples should budget accordingly. This venue is also available for ceremonies only.

OUR TIPS FOR THIS VENUE
* As a historical site run by NSW Museums, more restrictions than most other ordinary venues may apply
* As a government venue, venue rules are imposed on a basis that is more strict than most other venues
* Allow for a generous budget that allows for BOTH venue hire and catering fees which are calculated separately
* Expect a bit more detailed planning and paperwork for yourself and suppliers prior to the event when comparing with other commercial function centres
* Party lights at the courtyard for the dance party makes a big difference to the mood
* Always allow for a 10-15% buffer for incidentals
